Specimen Requirements

Container Type:

Optimal: EDTA Lavender Top, whole blood

 

 

 

Acceptable: EDTA Microtainer

Optimal Collection Volume:

3 mL

Minimum Volume:

1 mL or 0.4 mL in EDTA microtainer

Collection Instructions:

Gently invert the sample tube 5-6 times after collection to mix the blood.

Specimen Transport Temperature:

Refrigerated

Processing Instructions:

1. Keep the specimen as whole blood for testing.

2. Store the specimens refrigerated prior to testing.

3. Allow refrigerated samples to come to room temperature and mix well before analysis.
