Useful For
Detecting drug abuse involving one or more of the following drugs:
- Opiate
- Buprenorphine
- Methadone
- Oxycodone
- Fentanyl
Methodology
- Opiate - Roche Cobas: Kinetic interaction of particles in solution (KIMS)
- Buprenorphine and Methadone - Bio-Rad TOX/See: Lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay
- Oxycodone and Fentanyl - Roche Cobas: Homogeneous enzyme immunoassay

Methodology Comment |
---|---|
UOP |
This assay detects morphine at concentrations of 300 ng/mL and higher. Codeine and heroin are also detectable. This assay is less sensitive to hydrocodone, which is detected only at high concentrations.
This assay does NOT detect other opioid analgesics. Specifically, it does not detect methadone, fentanyl, oxycodone, buprenorphine, or propoxyphene. If there is a question of therapeutic compliance or abuse of these drugs, a test for the specific drug of interest should be ordered. |
UBUP |
This assay detects buprenorphine at levels of 10 ng/mL and greater. Concentrations of free buprenorphine and norbuprenorphine in urine may be less than 1 ng/mL after therapeutic administration but can range up to 20 in abuse situations. |
UMTD |
This assay detects methadone at levels of 300 ng/mL and higher. High levels of doxylamine (50,000 ng/mL) may also be detected. |
UOXY |
This assay detects oxycodone and/or oxymorphone at levels of 100 ng/mL and higher. |
UFNT |
This assay detects fentanyl at 3.8 ng/mL and higher. Structural analogs of fentanyl are also detectable. The major metabolite norfentanyl is detectable at 5 ng/mL. |
