Important Note

Plasma catecholamines are no longer indicated for the diagnosis of pheochromocytoma. Plasma-free metanephrines provide the best test for excluding or confirming pheochromocytoma. Plasma catecholamine orders will be converted to plasma fractionated metanephrines per the Bronson laboratory utilization policy. Please call the clinical pathologist at 269-341-8997 with questions.Spin down within 2 hours of draw.

 

Plasma must be separated from red blood cells within 2 hours of collection.

Specimen Volume: 1 mL

Collection Instructions: Centrifuge and aliquot plasma into a plastic vial within 2 hours of collection.
