Test Code IFEUAD Pathologist Order Only: Urine Immunofixation - Add-on to Urine Protein Electrophoresis
Reference Values
An interpretive report will be provided.
Methodology
Immunofixation
Includes identification of monoclonal gammopathies and pathologist interpretation.
Immunofixation electrophoresis of serum is most often ordered to evaluate a monoclonal globulin detected in protein electrophoresis or to delineate a possible lymphoproliferative process, particularly myeloma. This procedure will characterize the specific light- and heavy-chain components of a monoclonal protein. A pathologist may order quantitative immunoglobulins to evaluate further any monoclonal protein detected.
