Processing Instructions: 
  1. Measure and record the total volume of the urine collection.
  2. Vigorously shake the entire container of urine to ensure that all of its contents are adequately mixed before pouring off aliquots.
  3. Pour off two aliquots into clean, unused urine cups.
  4. One aliquot should not be acidified—label as such. This is done in case add-ons are requested that cannot have acidified urine.
  5. Acidify the other aliquot to a pH of < 2.0.
  6. Mix well and pour off a 2.0 mL acidified aliquot into a false bottom tube.
  7. Centrifuge the false bottom tube.
