Test Code PSAM or LAB2390 Total Prostate-Specific Antigen, Monitoring, Serum or Plasma

Important Note

Total Prostate-Specific Antigen has two order codes based on the order diagnosis of the patient. PSAM (LAB2390) should be ordered for patients who have a history of diagnosed prostate cancer or prior elevated PSA result(s).

  • For routine screening on patients with no history of prostate cancer or elevated PSA result(s), please order PSAS (LAB2391)

Methodology note: Total PSA is performed on the same reagent kit (Roche) and analyzer (e801) as the test listed in the Mayo Catalog as "Ultrasensitive PSA."

Patient Preparation: Avoid palpation of the prostate for two days before testing.
