examination of paraffin sections, impression smears, and
bacteriological culture, if appropriate.

Specimen Requirements

Notify Pathology office at extension 8997 when specimen
is ready and provide patient’s full name, date of birth,
and operating room (O.R.) number.

 

Specimen Type: Fresh lymph node tissue
Container/Tube: Sterile container with sterile,
saline-moistened sponge

Specimen Volume: Entire collection

Collection Instructions:

1. Freeze tissue and send specimen frozen with no added
fixative or preservative.

2. Causes for rejection include specimen submitted in formalin
(which limits the procedure) or unlabeled or incorrectly labeled
specimen (which will be returned for correct
identification).

Forms: Pathologist Consultation Form
and Tissue Requisition-Indicate patient’s full name,
date of birth, date of service, physician, and O.R. number
