Methodology
Enzymatic measurment of L-Lactate.
Note: This test does not measure D-Lactate, which is associated with gastrointestinal tract bacterial overgrown seen in conditions such as short bowel syndrome. Causes for Rejection |
|
Causes for rejection include: Sample not processed within 30 minutes of collection.
- Plasma is stable for 24 hours at Room Temp or 14 days refrigerated.
Specimen Transport Temperature
Must be tested as heparinized whole blood (for BBC Respiratory testing). Plasma is also acceptable at BMH/BLH/BSH laboratories.
Sending specimen on ice may help with sample stability, but is not required.
