Test Code HIVS or LAB2544 Rapid HIV Screen (1/2 antibody, Whole Blood

Important Note

This is a visually read dipstick test where the result is read by the presence or absence of a potentially subjective line.   This test is only to be used in cases where an extremely rapid result is needed (i.e., blood and body fluid exposure).    The standard automated HIV Test (LAB473)  is available 22 hours a day with the exception during daily maintenance on third shift.  That test is preferable, and often meets the Turn Around Time needs for exposure.
