Specimen Type: Fluid, tissue, or ESwab of any
material representative of infection other than blood, skin,
hair, or nails

Container/Tube: Screw-capped, sterile
container

Specimen Volume: Entire collection

Collection Instructions:

1. Date and time of collection, source of specimen,
and any unusual pathogens or requests are required.

2. Label container with patient’s full name, date of
birth, date and time of collection, and source of
specimen.

Refrigerate 24 hours/Ambient 2 hours-Sterile Container
or up to 72 hours ambient- ESwab (Other than blood, skin, hair, or
nails)

Reference Values

Normal result: no fungus growth

Abnormal result: identification of pathogenic fungus to genus or
species
