Important Note

Specimens drawn in EDTA microtainers will be rejected. Please reference the Specimen Requirements section for acceptable EDTA container types.

Specimen Requirements

Container Type:

Optimal: EDTA Lavender Top (13x75mm), whole blood

 

 

 

Acceptable: EDTA Lavender MAP tube 

 

Unacceptable: EDTA microtainer

Optimal Collection Volume:

Full tube

Minimum Volume:

  • 13x75 mm tube: 0.5 mL whole blood
  • EDTA MAP tube: 0.35 mL whole blood

Collection Instructions:

Gently invert the sample tube 5-6 times after collection to mix the blood.

Processing Instructions:

1. Keep the specimen as whole blood for testing.

2. Store the specimens refrigerated prior to testing.

3. Allow refrigerated samples to come to room temperature and mix well before analysis.
